Curious George, I mean Luke!

Luke is now 7 and a half months old. And he is a crawling machine. He is into everything and all over the place in a split second. He started getting the hang of it about two weeks ago and then became a pro last week. His chubby turkey legs carry him far. But it is so much fun watching him develop and grow. Although, I did get weepy at this milestone because it seems that time has flown by.

Anyhow, he is the love of my life and I just had to upload these pictures of Luke giving his momma adoring looks in the bathtub. I get those looks when I sing to him.

Luke, slick as a whistle after bath and hair combed.

Play Date!

Luke had his buddies over for lunch, and it was a blast. Although, when there is a lot going on, Luke wants me to hold him all the time.

The Best part of wakin' up......

Is NOT Folgers in my cup......

The best part of waking up for Luke is luckily when I walk in. It is so much fun walking into Luke's room after he has just roused from a nap or a night of sleep! I walk in and peer over the crib and Luke's entire body convulses in joy, giggles, and smiles. He flails his arms and legs wildly and anxiously awaits to be picked up. Now with 23 pounds and 31 inches jumping all around~~there is quite a ruckus. And I love to draw it out and talk to him and smile big~~and the excitement continues. Then when I finally do pick him up, he buries his head in my chest and squeals or sometimes screams in delight. Is there anything better? Now it is always a race between Drew and I to see who can get there first~~Drew usually wins because he has longer legs with his 6 feet 3 inch frame. But there is always next time!
Here is what I saw when Luke woke up today from his nap.

BED HEAD AND GRINS

Today we got to visit with the Helsels as we planned for women's ministry night! Luke loves his "auntie" Laura and "auntie" Cindi
They also had my favorite~~chicken salad sandwiches for lunch! Yum! Anyone else love chicken salad as much as me? I can never make it right though so am always on the hunt for the best chicken salad! Anyways, I digress~~here are some pics.

5 years!

Drew and I just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. Time has flown by. We celebrated by going to Lodo's and then to see Henry Poole. Drew gave me a tiny ipod filled with love songs to me and some new music he thought I might like. I gave him a family album, chronicling our years together with notes and verses on each page. He has always wanted something to take with him on trips. He does travel a lot!

Drew, I am so thankful to the Lord for you. I could not have imagined Him leading me to a better soulmate. Everday gets better and better as we share our life. Thank you for being such a wonderful spiritual leader, provider, best friend, and father. You are my perfect someone and I can't wait for our 50 year celebration if the Lord allows us to make it that long.

Psalm 108:4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies

Psalm 33:22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

Treasured Heirlooms!

On my last visit home, my mom gave me my first family heirloom. A handmade blanket by my great grandmother (Grandma Gus) It is blue and white and intricately made. It is a treasure for sure. My great grandmother died when I was 5, but she was always known for climbing into bed with her grandchildren (my mom) and great grandchildren and making them feel loved. My mom has always shared treasured memories of her. I took some pictures of Luke with this treasure so that I have them for always.

My other great grandmother (Great grandmother Plume) just passed away a few months before her 100th birthday. We are going to have a memorial for her near her 100th birthday this December to celebrate her life. My mom gave me a hand stitched table cloth that grandmother Plume made. I told my mom to hang onto it and give it to me next year with a hand written note telling about the tablecloth. These treasures will be in my hope chest to pass onto my children. My great grandmother would always tell me amazing stories when I would visit her and they were a testament to her wonderful life.

Time flies when you're havin' fun!

In random news, my son loves to flip hats sideways when you put them on and looks like a rapper. We had fun on a walk, laughing at his new mannerisms.

Word!

Making our own fun! We are dorks.

With Luke turning 7 months old it is so easy to snap cute pictures. He is at such a fun age and always doing new things.

Mommy and Luke

I love my prunes, yum--and wearing them!

An everlasting mohawk that would not lay down, so I went with it! Maybe time for a haircut.

Another pose, I am getting good at this--maybe I should be a gerber model (Luke's thoughts)

I had a busy and fun week and a half. I got to visit with Heather at her house to help finish up a backpack project for children in Douglas county that are taken from their homes. Our church did such a great job filling these backpacks with essential items these children will need when they have nothing of their own.

Then I got to have tea with Shanequa and her baby girl Logan. I forgot to take pictures though.

Thursday, I got to hang with Katie and her boys Josh, Isaac, and Ethan

Josh smiling (I think Luke may look a little like him when he gets older)

On Saturday Kara and Emmy and I went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II a last minute affair. Yeah I know... But it was cute. Not as good as the first one though. Luke and Daddy had guy time.

On Saturday night, we got a babysitter and went to dinner at our friends. It was so great and such good lasagna. Yum

Sunday, we had friends over for lunch and then dinner after church. Great fellowship. Since I got out of school in May, I have more time now even while juggling naps and such. I feel like a free woman.

Monday I got to go to my favorite coffee shop (Caribou) with my friend Nikki and her boys Bodie and Jonah. We chatted it up over my favorite Mint Condition coffee.

Hey dude!

Luke already stealing toys!

Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to vote in the primary.
And today got to hang with Grace who has a 3 week old and needed to get out of the house for her sanity (as all new moms know). It was a blast chatting and eating a Yard bird sandwich at the spicy pickle. Yum. The owner was really nice and gave us a free cookie.

And tonight got to have Emmy over for dinner as our husbands were gone for the evening. Fun girl time and chat!

Well, as you can see I was behind on my blogging. I have been enjoying every second of life, loving Luke, Drew, friends, and Colorado. God is so gracious and loving to me--I never want to take it for granted.

Mommy why is Logan always sleeping?

My buddy!

I love my army fatigues from mama B~~and I love to be on all fours and then face plant repeatedly.

Per request from my friend Crystal I snapped a couple of pics with Luke and I.

Getting Big!

O.k. maybe I am really out of it, but can anyone tell me how a "rear-facing" big boy carseat is supposed to work? I bought a bigger carseat for Luke. It was advertised as rear and/or front facing for 5 to 52 pounds. I couldn't imagine putting a newborn in it though. It also seemed like the best rated. However, we went to the fire department to get it installed and in the tight position the seat is all the way up against the back of the seat and there is no room for his legs almost as if the seat part isn't long enough. Also the incline of the seat is no longer inclined. I put him in it and he looked like the most uncomfortable baby in the world. It seems almost better to keep using the infant car seat. At least in that he can lay back a little and have room for his feet, but the kiddo is huge. Any suggestions! He is 30 inches and 22 pounds at almost 7 months. Have any of you found a great seat for this transition?
