Encouraging word!

Today I was reading in Colossians 1 and I was encouraged and challenged by the Lord through these words 10-14 "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominian of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

These 2 sentences are so rich with challenge and hope. Oh how I desire to please the Lord in every way~but I fall so short. Yet Paul challenges the Colossians in this way in spite of the sinful nature that battles in us every day. Because in that challenge is the awareness that God through us can overcome our sinful nature and allow us to "grow in the knowledge of God" and be "strengthened". Through life's trials with sin and the continual fall of humanity God can grant us "endurance and patience" with "joy". How amazing is that! Paul, as he always does, focuses on Christ the One who made this all possible. Reminding us through his letter to the Colossians that Christ has redeemed us~~so thankfully NOT by our own merit, forgiven us of our sins and promising us an "inheritance". Praise God for his promise. How can I through these words not be strengthened and joyful in His promises~~no matter the trials we face on this earth and the sinful nature we must continually battle but appear to never overcome? God wants to encourage and strengthen us~~reminding us to lean on Him for the victory or we will surely be in despair. Thank you Lord for this encouragement today! I think I must have needed to read exactly this especially how I have just babbled on. God in His glory, love, and mercy wants to see us come to know Him more intimately and spread this to everyone through our life. God's kingdom will flourish through His sinful ~yet persevering people!
